Membership Terms & Conditions

Consulting Engineers Board UK welcomes applications from individuals with an interest in engineering, science, technology or allied disciplines who are based in the United Kingdom.

The Board offers three categories of membership: Affiliate Member, Student Member and Retired Member.

Submission of a membership application does not guarantee admission to any specific membership category.

The Board reserves the right to refuse any application for membership without being required to provide a reason.

All members agree to abide by the Board's Code of Conduct and Statement of Ethical Principles, as published on this website and as amended from time to time.

Members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the reputation, integrity and values of Consulting Engineers Board UK at all times.

Membership subscriptions run for a period of one year, payable annually in advance.

Annual subscription fees are as follows: Affiliate Member — £20; Student Member — £10; Retired Member — £10.

Membership fees may be revised from time to time. Members will be notified of any changes in writing prior to their renewal date. Subscriptions not renewed within three months of the due date will be considered lapsed, and all membership rights and entitlements will be suspended.

Affiliate Membership is open to UK-based individuals with an interest in engineering and technology who do not qualify for or have not applied for another category.

Student Membership is open to individuals currently enrolled in a relevant programme of study. Post-graduate students who hold an undergraduate degree in engineering or a related discipline may be eligible for Affiliate Membership.

Retired Membership is open to individuals who have retired from professional practice in engineering, science, technology or an allied field. A member may request a transfer between membership categories at any time during their membership, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for the category applied for.

Members may resign from Consulting Engineers Board UK by submitting written notice to the Board. A full refund of the membership subscription will be made if written notice of resignation is received within 90 days of the subscription start date. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of the resignation being received, returned to the original payment method where possible.

No refund will be made if the member has received a material benefit from their membership during the subscription period, such as discounted event attendance or publications.

Former members who wish to re-join within three years of their membership lapsing will be welcomed back under their previous membership category, subject to meeting the current eligibility criteria. Former members whose membership has lapsed for more than three years will be required to submit a new application and may be asked to provide supporting documentation.

Consulting Engineers Board UK is committed to serving its members effectively and fairly. In the event of a complaint, members should contact the secretariat team in writing at info@consultboard.co.uk. The Board will acknowledge complaints promptly and endeavour to resolve matters within five working days. Where further investigation is required, members will be informed of the expected timescale.

Consulting Engineers Board UK reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Members will be notified of any material changes.
